Your 2-day wildlife safari to explore Akagera National Park located in Northeastern Rwanda along the border with Tanzania will grant you a great opportunity to experience, explore and enjoy this only savanna national park where safari game drives are done throughout Rwanda. Named after Akagera River that flows along its eastern boundary and feeds into a labyrinth of lakes inclusive of the largest being Lake Ihema, the forest fringed lakes, papyrus swamps, savannah plains and rolling highlands combined together places Akagera amongst the most thrilling, exceptional and scenic Game reserves in Africa. Akagera national park is habitat for the big 5 wildlife and other mammal species including Lions, Elephants, Giraffes, Hippos, Kobs, Zebras, Bushbucks, Waterbucks and most recently introduced Black Rhinos.

2 Days Akagera National Park Tour

DAY 1 PICK UP/ TRANSFER TO AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK

• Pick up and drive to Akagera National Park (3hrs drive) Time TBA.
• Arrive in time for lunch and check in.
• Afternoon game drive at 3:00 pm.
You will have a short game drive in search and spot the big mammals like Elephants, Giraffes, Buffaloes. Several Antelopes, Kobs, Zebras, Bushbucks. You will be in position to spot as many birds as possible for it is a birding paradise then return to the lodge for Lunch and relax in the evening while enjoying the lodge amenities.
• Dinner and Overnight: Akagera game lodge (B&B)

DAY 2 FULL DAY GAME DRIVE/RETURN TO KIGALI

After your morning Breakfast, you will then start your Game Drive with your packed lunch boxes
Akagera is also known as one of the most scenic savannahs in East Africa.
You will start your game drive from Kirara route with packed lunch boxes. The game drive in Akagera, provides you with the opportunity to view gentle hills blending beautifully with lowland swamps and water bodies.

You will visit the Giraffe area in the south and the lakes road up towards Birengero. Akagera National Park is home to elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and antelope. More than a dozen types of antelope inhabit the park, most commonly the handsome chestnut-coated impala, but also the diminutive oribi and secretive bushbuck, as well as the ungainly tsessebe and the world’s largest antelope, the statuesque, the Cape eland. Depending on the time of the game drive you will be able to view most of the game in different parts of the park. Return to Kigali and be dropped off (Venue TBA).
