Over 475 different bird species have been documented in Kidepo National Park. Notable species include the Black-breasted Barbet and the Karamoja Apalis. Notably, the Ostrich is unique to Kidepo National Park among Uganda’s national parks. Through their drumming and dance, which they perform for the guests, the Ik people of the Karamoja region have also drawn a sizable number of tourists to the area. Among the park’s other attractions is the breathtaking vista of Kidepo Valley National Park, which is truly the essence of Africa. There are also Kanangorok Hot Springs.

4 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari Adventure

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Transfer to Kitgum From Kampala

This tour begins with an early morning departure from Kampala after an early breakfast. You then head north to reach the first stopover at Karuma Falls. Along the way, you will see troops of olive baboons and velvet monkeys, and you will also be able to stretch your legs as you take in the scenery. After lunch, we drive to Gulu Town, where you will undoubtedly notice the fruits of peace following the 20-year rebel uprising. After lunch, we head to Kitgum for an overnight stay and dinner.

Day 2: Afternoon Game Drive in Kidepo Valley National Park

You leave for Kidepo Valley National Park in the morning after having a cup of coffee. On the way, we pass through small villages made up of mud and thatch belonging to the Acholi tribe. The road winds through the mountain ranges of Keler and Loniyilli, which provide some of the most breathtaking views as you drop down the valley. We arrive in time for lunch and check in as you get ready for an afternoon game drive in the Narus valley, where you can see lions, Jackson hartebeests, African buffalo.

Day 3: Kidepo Game Drive – Nature Walk

Enjoy the breathtaking view as the sun rises behind the mountains and floods the valley. After that, head out for a game drive to an ostrich farm. Although this isn’t a man-made phenomenon, the sheer number of birds makes it comparable. Along the way, we’ll get to see lions, cape buffalo, giraffes, elephant herds, and lots more wildlife. Lunch will be served at the accommodation. On a nature walk in the afternoon, we are accompanied by a knowledgeable ranger guide who shares his knowledge of the ecosystem and helps you get up close and personal with the animals while you explore the park on foot, away from the steel-clad safari car.

Day 4: Return to Kampala – Departure

Start the day with an early morning breakfast then drive back to Kampala City as you mark an end to our 4 days tour to Kidepo Valley National Park. Do a game drive as you exit the park giving you a chance to see elephants, buffaloes and different kinds of antelopes as you make your exit through the Katarum Gate making a brief stop at Katarum Kopje a site of the Derelict Lodge built in the rock but currently under renovation to have a birds-eye view of the park. Lunch break in Gulu town, and then proceed Kampala marking an end to this safari.
