Our 7 Days Uganda Primate Tracking Safari is ideal for individuals who enjoy seeing gorillas and chimpanzees in their natural habitat, boating along the Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park, and wildlife viewing. You will have the chance to hike among chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park while on the excursion. It also gives you the opportunity to go on boat excursions and wildlife drives through Queen Elizabeth National Park. The best opportunities to see thousands of antelopes, hippos, elephants, buffaloes, lions, and gorillas are during boat excursions on the Kazinga Channel. Gorilla Trekking Safari tours are offered to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, which is situated in southwest Uganda. You can have an incredible experience with one of the 19 habituated mountain gorilla groups in the home of around 630 mountain gorillas. In addition to gorillas, you may get a chance to observe red-tailed monkeys, chimpanzees, baboons, and black and white colobus monkeys, among other primates.

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Kampala – Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, depart Kampala for the exciting trip to Kibale National Park, which is located directly beneath the Rwenzori Mountains, through dense jungle and papyrus wetlands in the Nile Delta. A fantastic cultural tour takes place on a guided walk in the park’s crater lakes area in the afternoon.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest

Track chimpanzees in Kibale Forest by reporting to the Kanyanchu Tourist Centre, where tourist activities start, after an early breakfast. Although there is a 90% chance of seeing the chimps, it is not guaranteed. Visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary after lunch, where you can go on a guided tour of the swamp. You will get the chance to witness a variety of plants and animals on this trip. See a range of insects, birds, and butterflies. Take a tour of the area surrounding Ndali Lodge crater. If you’d like, you can also make a stop at any tea plantation along the way.

Accommodation Options: Kyaninga Lodge, Primate Lodge, Kibale Guest House.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Following breakfast in the morning, you will travel for approximately three hours to reach Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will have the chance to go through tiny settlements, take in multiple Rwenzori mountain foothills, observe small rivers that spring from the Rwenzori mountain ranges, and cross the equator at Kikorongo. When you arrive at the lodge and unwind, get ready for your late-afternoon game drive in Mweya. Antelopes, buffaloes, warthogs, elephants, and many other wild species, such as lions and leopards, can be seen in this area of Queen Elizabeth National Park. After dinner, guests can spend the night at the lodge.

Accommodation Options: Mweya Safari Lodge, Simba Safari Lodge, Bush Lodge.

Day 4: Game Drive – Boat Cruise along Kazinga Channel

You will return to Kasenyi Plains for a game drive to make up for anything you might have missed on your previous game drive after having a cup of tea in the early morning. You may be fortunate enough to witness the big cats as they hunt, increasing your chances of seeing lions and/or leopards during this early game drive. Other mammals that may be seen include buffalo, hippos, various antelope species, and many others. Head back to the lodge to have lunch. Take a boat trip in Kazinga Channel in the afternoon by driving straight to Mweya Jetty. One of the delights of Queen Elizabeth National Park is this two-hour boat ride. Viewing antelopes, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and more than 300 of the 600 water bird species that have been documented here is possible. Go back to the lodge to spend the night.

Accommodation Options: Mweya Safari Lodge, Simba Safari Lodge, Bush Lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will go to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, which is situated in south-western Uganda, after breakfast. Nearly half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas are found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is also the only national park where mountain gorillas and wild chimpanzees coexist. You will travel through undulating hills with terraced gardens of Irish potatoes and Kayonza tea estate on your way to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will arrive in the late afternoon to spend the night and have dinner.

Accommodation Options: Trackers Safari Lodge, Mahogany Springs, Buhoma Safari Lodge.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking Experience

Following breakfast in the morning, you will be taken to the Park headquarters to receive instructions on what to do and what not to do when interacting with the gorillas. Following this, you will be dropped off at the designated gorilla family’s starting point to begin your trek into the dense Bwindi Forest. Depending on the location of the mountain gorillas, this trip could take anything from 30 minutes to three quarters of a day. As a result, gorilla trekking can be demanding, necessitating a certain level of athleticism. The trip will be worthwhile after you locate the gorillas, and you will get an hour to observe and take pictures of them. After that, you’ll head back to the park headquarters, where you’ll receive a certificate acknowledging your contribution to the conservation of the critically endangered mountain gorillas. After relaxing at the lodge, you’ll head back for a village walk to gain more insight into the lives of the locals surrounding Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Accommodation Options: Trackers Safari Lodge, Mahogany Springs, Buhoma Safari Lodge.

Day 7: Return to Kampala – Departure

Your tour guide will make sure you get to the airstrip Kihihi in time for your morning or afternoon flight back to Entebbe/Kampala before we set out on our journey to Kampala.
