Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival to Rwanda.
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by our drive guide and transfer you to hotel for Dinner and overnight Kigali Serena Hotel.
Day 2: Kigali City Tour – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After having breakfast at the hotel, go on a tour of Kigali’s city and stop by the Genocide Memorial Museum. Savour lunch at a neighbourhood eatery in Kigali. After that, head to the Volcanoes National Park for a picturesque drive. Travelling north, one can see the stunning terraced hillsides that make up a large portion of Rwanda’s terrain before progressively ascending to the foot of the Virunga Volcanoes, where one may occasionally see as many as five peaks. Day 3: Trekking Mountain Gorillas
You will get the unique chance to see the renowned mountain gorillas of Rwanda today. It’s an amazing experience to track gorillas through the Virungas’ forested slopes. In case you’re fortunate, you might be able to visit the gorillas, spend sixty minutes with them, and return to the base in time for a delayed lunch. However, tracking certain gorilla families can take up to a full day, especially in wet and muddy conditions, as they are more elusive. Day 4: Tracking Golden Monkey
You will head off for Golden Monkeys Trekking to see the renowned Rwandan mountain after breakfast in the morning. After lunch at The Lodge, head out of the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes and travel to Kibuye, the capital of Rwanda’s Western Province. Kibuye is known as the “beach city” and is home to rocky beaches, tranquil islands, and the stunning Ndaba Falls, which is only a short drive from the city. Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
You will leave your lodge after a hearty breakfast and make your way to Nyungwe National Park. This hilly rainforest reserve, which is located between 1600 and 2950 metres above sea level, is home to a diverse range of flora and animals, including over 260 species of trees and shrubs, over 100 varieties of orchids, and enormous lobelia. In addition to its amazing biodiversity, the park offers stunning views. After lunch, arrive at the lodge for an optional afternoon canopy walk. Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest
After enjoying a hearty breakfast at your lodge, go on an exciting walk to find colonies of chimpanzees. The estimated 400–500 Rwandan chimpanzees are believed to be restricted to the Nyungwe Forest National Park, which includes a tiny settlement in the Cyamudongo Forest. As their pant-hoots reverberate through the dense jungle, get ready to hear these animated primates before you ever see them. Along the way, you might see migrating birds of prey such as the regal sunbird, red-breasted sparrow hawk, grey-cheeked hornbill, and Ross’ turaco. Day 7: Hiking to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Following a hearty breakfast at your lodge, go out on an exciting walk to find communities of Colobus monkeys. Along the way, you might see migrating birds of prey such as the regal sunbird, red-breasted sparrow hawk, grey-cheeked hornbill, and Ross’ turaco. Day 8: Transfer to Kigali Airport
Drive to Butare, the cultural centre of Rwanda, which is home to multiple universities and the historic Mwami Palace (King’s Palace), after breakfast. Visit the Butare National Museum as well; it’s an intriguing ethnographic museum with historical relics, maps, photos, and traditional clothes. Proceed to Kigali after having lunch at a neighbourhood eatery in Butare. Upon arrival, you will be taken to Kigali International Airport in preparation for your next flight.
