Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema in Akagera National Park

One of the most challenging aspects of visiting Akagera Safari is making reservations for the boat cruise, since many visitors are unaware of the park’s boat trip timetable.

When scheduling a boat excursion at Akagera National Park, it’s important to be aware of the boat schedules so that you may reserve the boat that best fits your schedule for other park activities.

One of the largest lakes in the country, Lake Ihema, has boat tours available every day. Expert instructors lead your one-hour boat excursion over the lake in Akagera. Walking along the shoreline surrounded by woodlands, you will hopefully notice different species of animals and birds. A few of the animal and bird species that can be spotted along the shoreline are shoebill storks, crowned cranes, Carruthers Cisticola, crocodiles, hippos, and herds of buffalo. The boat excursion makes it easy to learn about the wetland marshes’ aquatic and wildlife.

Boat schedules are available in the morning, midday, and afternoon. Compared to the morning and afternoon boat rides, the sunset boat tour is significantly more costly. Among the activities offered by Akagera National Park are hot air balloon rides, game drives, bird watching, and boat rides.

People are free to take private boat schedules at their own established costs, even if they would like to do so outside of the regularly scheduled boat schedule time.

One may choose to join the remaining passengers on the boat schedule time, subject to availability, or they may choose to pay the full cost of all boat seats if they would like a private schedule during the regular boat schedule time.

A boat safari in Rwanda includes a trip around Lake Ihema in Akagera National Park. The park is the only wildlife safari destination in Rwanda that offers game drives and has species that are exclusive to the savannah. Taking a boat safari on Lake Ihema is one of the greatest ways to explore the park and view animals in Akagera.

It is strongly advised that you reserve your boat as soon as possible. You can work with us to ensure that everything is set aside and comfortable for you.

The park has two boats that go around Lake Ihema, which is near the Ruzizi Tented Lodge in the southern portion of the park. The two boats run on the above-mentioned schedules and may accommodate up to 11 passengers each.

It is strongly advised that group reservations be made in advance in order to guarantee that all of the boats will be available for the group to reserve.

We strongly suggest the early morning and sunset boat schedule to those who enjoy bird watching and photography because of the cool weather and beautiful sunrise and sunset views.
